Transformation of a Moscow park; study.
Water has given Lefortovo Park its identity, but it has fallen still. Most of the original qualities have become invisible. This is a shame, the city is in need of good green spaces. However, the balance can easily be disrupted when intervening in the park. Different than other parks in Moscow, Lefortovo holds besides all its potential also the quality of nothingness. Many things can be, nothing has to be.
A route, leading to a water shrine, is proposed. The shrine is located on the remnants of an arbour on an island. Instead of adding extra functions, the available strengths are articulated. In the enclosed space at the climax of the route one is able to sense the hidden Lefortovo quality. Light enters through a crevice in the thick rammed earth walls and reflects in a shallow pond on an old stone.
